About this interactive
The Red Teams and Blue Teams lesson gives the two sides of an exercise their labels.
Red team: offense. They act as the attacker or pen tester, trying to get into the network, exploit weaknesses and do something with the access.
Blue team: defense. They guard the network, watch for the attack, and keep the red team out or throw it out.
Purple team: the go-between, red and blue combined. It keeps the two coordinated and the exercise running smoothly, so what the attackers learn reaches the defenders.
Security+ uses the words offensive, defensive and integrated for the same ideas. A quick test for each card: is the person attacking, defending, or making the two sides work together?
