About this interactive
The Computer Software lesson breaks applications into types by what they help you do. Two of those types are the ones CompTIA Tech+ names.
Productivity software helps you carry out your own task. A word processor is for documents such as letters and papers, a spreadsheet tracks and works with data in rows and columns, presentation software shows things in slides, and visual diagramming software draws diagrams and flowcharts.
Collaboration software is for communicating and coordinating with other people: email clients, video conferencing, online workshops, document sharing and instant messaging.
Sort by the job, not by the program or by who will see the result. Slides you build for a meeting are productivity work, even though people will watch them; sharing those slides so a classmate can edit them with you at the same time is collaboration. A report you write is productivity work; emailing it to your manager is collaboration.
One card at a time: choose Productivity or Collaboration. A wrong answer resets your streak and shows the right bin. Five correct in a row finishes the round.
