About this interactive
The lesson names five consequences of being out of compliance.
Fine: the company pays an amount of money because it did not comply. It can be one payment or repeat: the lesson's example is a company fined every month until it fixed its PCI DSS gaps.
Sanction: a limit on the business the company can do, such as products it may not sell, places it may not sell to, or customers it may not take on.
Reputation damage: people stop trusting the company. Customers leave, and future partners and clients go elsewhere.
Loss of license: the company loses its legal ability to run the business, or part of it.
Contract consequences: many contracts say what happens if their terms are broken. A breach can bring a fine or another consequence, or the contract can simply end.
One event can bring several of these at once. Each card here is built around one: ask what the company lost, money, freedom to do business, trust, the right to operate, or the deal.
