About this video

Browser bookmarks are a practical tool for managing web navigation, allowing users to save any site and return to it instantly without relying on search history or memory. When saving a bookmark, the name can be customized to something concise and recognizable, and the destination can be set to the bookmarks bar for immediate visibility. These small adjustments reduce friction and make frequently visited sites accessible in a single click. Organization takes bookmarks a step further by grouping related sites into folders. Using the browser's built-in bookmark manager, folders can be created, named, and populated by dragging bookmarks into place. A folder labeled for daily tasks — containing sites like email, cloud storage, or internal tools — can be right-clicked to open all contained bookmarks at once, launching an entire workflow in seconds. This approach scales well as the number of saved sites grows, keeping the bookmarks bar uncluttered and easy to navigate. Whether the goal is quick access to a single site or a structured routine for opening multiple resources at the start of a workday, a well-maintained bookmark system improves browser efficiency. The bookmark manager supports this by providing a centralized place to rename, reorganize, and clean up saved sites as needs change over time.

Another thing to get really familiar with is bookmarks. They can be a tremendous tool to help us navigate our web pages easily and get back to where we want to go. Not only that, but keeping those bookmarks organized can really help with our efficiency.

Creating a Bookmark

Let's say I go to a specific site often. For instance, maybe I go to techknowsurge.com and I want to be able to bookmark it. All I need to do in this browser is just click the star. Other browsers are similar.

Then what I can do is I can type in the name of this. Maybe I don't like the home part of this, I just want to say TechKnowSurge to easily identify it. So I'm going to change the name of this bookmark, and where I want this. It's not really an account, and so maybe I just want it on the bookmarks bar. Well, what happens if I just select the bookmarks bar? I'm going to click on done, and there it is right there. There's my bookmark now. So now I can easily go to it whenever I get to this site.

Organizing Bookmarks into Folders

Let's say I want to organize this. Maybe I want all my sites in a tab similar to this accounts one - I've got all my accounts here. Maybe I want to start a tab full of all the sites that I visit often.

So what I'm going to do in this case is I can click on the ellipse, I can go to my bookmarks list, and I'm going to go to the bookmarks manager. I'm going to go into here and I'm going to right-click and say new folder, add new folder. And by the way, there's many different ways that I could go about doing the same process. I like to use this bookmarks manager, but there's other ways that we wouldn't necessarily have to do that.

So I'm going to create a name for this. Maybe I'm going to just call it my sites - in fact, I'll call it literally My Sites - and we'll click on save there. And then maybe I'm going to drag this into My Sites. And there you go. Like I say, there's lots of different ways we could do this. We could actually do it up in the bar right here as well, but the bookmark manager is a nice way to be able to manage some of this.

Using Folders for Daily Checks

Having now organized, then what I can do is I can easily identify stuff. One of the things I'll do is I'll add bookmarks. And maybe I'll add - oh, not a bookmark, but let's add a folder - and say daily checks, and click on save.

Maybe one of my daily checks is to check something on my site, so I'm going to drag that into daily checks. Maybe I have email in my daily checks, so I'm going to drag that into there. Whoop, not into My Sites, but daily checks. Maybe I'll drag, let's see, one other thing here. Let's do my OneDrive into daily checks. So those are going to be my daily checks.

And then when I first open my browser, I'm going to open up my browser, select my proper profile, right-click on my daily checks and say open all three. And now I can go through and check each one in a real quick way.

So there's really a lot of little tricks like that that you can use to organize this. I'm not going to get in depth into it. This is just a little teaser of some of the ways that we can use those bookmarks. But I find it really handy to use them, and to be able to have these different folders.
