Profiles can be created with or without a linked Google account and customized with a display name and color theme for easy identification. When a profile is connected to a Google account and sync is turned on, Chrome automatically keeps that profile's data consistent across every device where the account is signed in. Bookmarks saved on a desktop machine appear on a laptop, and preference changes made on one device are reflected everywhere else. Let's talk about a feature that I absolutely love. When it first came out, I thought this is amazing, and that's profile synchronization. We can sync our profiles, so we get a similar experience no matter what device that we're on.

Syncing a Profile

I'm on Google Chrome right here, and I've already logged into a profile. If I click on this T right up here, I can see that this is the TechKnowDJ profile. It's just a sample account that I created just to demo things like this. And you can see that sync is on. So what sync is on means is that now it's syncing things like my history, or my preferences and settings, or my bookmarks. So I have this accounts folder right here with different bookmarks in it, and no matter what machine I go on to, if I were to log into Chrome using this profile, then I would see those same bookmarks. So it's a really handy feature to have.

Adding Another Profile

Not only that, but I can manage multiple profiles on here, and I've used this feature extensively. So what I can do is I can click on this and I can say I want to add a new profile. So I come here and add a new profile. Maybe I want to continue without an account, or maybe I want to create one a little bit later. So I'm going to continue without an account. And then I get to select what it's going to be, and I'm going to say this is just — well, we'll call it example. So example. Maybe I choose some sort of color that's going to be something that stands out. So we'll do that and then we'll say done. And now I've got a new profile.

Now, if I want to turn on syncing, then I can create an account for this, and so I could go through the process of doing that to create this account.

Switching Between Profiles

But now, if I want to jump back and forth between these profiles, notice down here on the bottom here, I've got this Chrome window that's open and then also my TechKnowDJ one. So I can jump between these two profiles and use them.

I find both the profiles, the ability to change these profiles, and the syncing of them absolutely great. It's so helpful to have these abilities, to have multiple profiles and the ability to sync the settings and all the bookmarks and everything on these profiles.

One last thing that I'll point out is that when we launch Chrome now, it's going to ask us which profile we want to use. So if I want to use TechKnowDJ, I can click on it.
