Practice is going to be very critical at this moment. As you progress through this, you'll want to be very familiar with the content, and you want to make sure that you understand the concepts, and the way you're going to do that is through practice, practice, practice.

The task: counting in binary

You're going to need this table to complete this task. You can either get that through my online coursework, you can get it through my booklet, or you could just take a scratch piece of paper, draw this out and start working it out.

The task is to count up to 15. You're going to start out with zero, and then you'll go to one, which is a one; and then a two, which is a one zero; then a three, which is one one; then a four, which is a one zero zero; and so on and so forth until you get all the way to 15. So you're going to have 16 different numbers there. Go ahead and figure this all out, and then we will continue.

What I want you to do, before you proceed on, is make sure you get really good at counting. You could continue this process and just keep counting, you could reset it and start over and do the first 16 numbers again, or however it's going to make you feel uncomfortable and counting — but make sure that you understand this before you go on.
