Order the Vulnerability Management Process

A scan, a score, a choice, a plan, a fix, a rescan: put one batch of flaws through the vulnerability management process in order.

About this interactive

The Vulnerability Management lesson gives the process six steps, and the team runs them again and again. Discover: find the flaws on the network, usually with a vulnerability scan or a penetration test. Assess: work out how serious each flaw is and what it could do to the organization. Prioritize: decide which flaws get fixed first, based on that assessment. Plan: decide how each flaw will be fixed, who does it and when. Remediate: make the fix, for example by applying the vendor's patch. Verify: check that the fix worked, for example by running the scan again. Reporting happens all the way through: a report can be pulled at any step, so no card here is a report. A quick test for each card: has the team found the flaw yet, judged it, ranked it, planned the fix, made it, or proved it?
