About this interactive

What you are doing: deciding whether each attempt arrives by text or by voice. Smishing: tricking a victim into disclosing sensitive data through short message service (SMS), that is, texting. Usually a link to a fake site, or a request to reply with information. Vishing: the same trick through voice services, on a cell phone, a landline or a business line. The lesson includes both a live caller and a recorded voice message, so a voicemail or a robocall is vishing. How to use it: ask how the victim receives the lure, by reading a text or by hearing a voice. A wrong answer resets your streak and shows why.
