About this interactive
SASE, Secure Access Service Edge, is not one product but a bundle, and the name started at Gartner, which saw vendors grouping the same products and gave the group its own category. It is a buzzword that turned pro.
What goes into a SASE product varies, but some components are required. The base is SD-WAN, which interconnects the sites and runs them from a central controller. On top of it come the security services: a secure web gateway, a cloud access security broker, and zero trust network access, often with firewall as a service. Because they come as one package, a new router or laptop added to the network gets all of them without separate setup.
This activity sorts jobs among three of them, each taught in this module. SD-WAN connects the sites and picks their links. The CASB covers the organization's cloud services: visibility, threat protection, data security and compliance. ZTNA applies zero trust to internal resources: verify identity and device, grant access to the one resource, and keep checking.
To sort a card, ask what the job is about: the links between sites, cloud services, or access to something internal.
