About this interactive

It is often said that if you do not test your backup, you have no backup. At the least, you cannot rely on a backup until you have tested it: there can be corruption or other problems you need to find before a real disaster does. Media matters too. Different media have different shelf lives. Cloud storage lasts almost indefinitely, but tape can become corrupted over time. The only real test is a restore. Restore the backup, then check that what came back is complete and usable.
