About this interactive
Over the phone, a help desk tech has to picture a screen they cannot see. The Remote Support Software lesson shows three ways to see it, or take it over.
Remote Desktop (RDP): Windows' Remote Desktop Connection signs you in to the other machine and gives you its desktop. Administrators use it all the time to manage servers. Its weakness for supporting a person is that the user at the machine is logged out while you are connected.
VNC: a VNC server on the machine and a viewer on yours, as in the lesson's TightVNC demo, show the same screen on both sides, so you and the user see the same thing and can both move the mouse.
A third-party tool such as TeamViewer: a subscription service that works through the cloud. The user goes to a website, sometimes downloads a small client, and enters the code you give them, and you can see or control their computer wherever they are.
Drag each card into a bin, then check your answers.
