Keyboard shortcuts are the one piece of computer literacy that is almost never taught and almost always assumed. A student who knows what a clipboard is and still reaches for the right-click menu every time has the concept and not the reflex, and the gap between those two is entirely a matter of how many times the keystroke has been recognised. Labelling the environment costs a few words per stem and it is the reason the macOS questions can sit in the same pool as the Windows ones without contaminating them. The distractors follow from the same reasoning. Where a real shortcut has a near neighbour that differs by one modifier, that neighbour is the distractor — Ctrl+F against Ctrl+H, Ctrl+S against F12, Ctrl+W against Alt+F4, Delete against Shift+Delete, and the three-way Win+Left, Alt+Left and Ctrl+Left, which share a key and share nothing else. Grading leaves every option on screen with the correct one marked, so a miss shows the pair rather than only the correction. On the macOS questions the Windows spelling of the same command is deliberately on the list: a student who picks it has made exactly the error the platform label was there to prevent, and sees Cmd+C marked correct directly beside the Ctrl+C they chose. Every question also carries a written explanation, and it is shown to the student the moment the answer is graded — on a right answer as well as a wrong one, because on a lucky guess the prose is the only thing that turns a right answer into a known one. Where the distractor is a near neighbour the explanation names what that neighbour would actually have done, and on the cross-platform pairs it names the modifier swap, so a miss returns a second shortcut instead of only a correction. This is a pool with sampling rather than a fixed round, and that is a real distinction for this subject: keyboard shortcuts are an open domain with no natural end, so there is no coherent 'complete' version of this activity, only a representative one. Twelve is enough for a round that stays short enough to replay and long enough for a streak to mean something, and thirty-seven is roughly three times that, so two consecutive runs overlap without repeating. The format is recognition — pick the answer out of four — and the set does not pretend otherwise. Producing Ctrl+Shift+T unprompted at a real keyboard is a harder and more useful skill than recognising it in a list, so this belongs beside actually using the shortcuts rather than in place of doing so. Run it after the module's shortcut lessons, and again a week later; the value is in the second and third pass, when the pool re-draws and the ones that got past you the first time come back.
