About this interactive

The Software as a Service lesson shows Microsoft Word twice: once as a program installed on the PC, opened in its own window, and once in a web browser, with the documents saved in the cloud. Locally installed software runs on your own computers, or on a server your organization runs. Someone has to install it on each machine, check the machine meets its requirements, install its updates, keep it secure, and buy more hardware when more people need it. Software as a service (SaaS) is hosted in the cloud, and somebody else manages it. That brings the advantages the lesson lists: manageability (the provider rolls out the updates, not your team), security run by people who specialize in it (though you now rely on their security instead of your own), access from anywhere with a browser, easier collaboration, and scalability (add people by buying more licenses, not more servers). One card at a time: choose Installed locally or SaaS. A wrong answer resets your streak and shows the right bin. Five correct in a row finishes the round.
