About this interactive

What you are doing: naming the human weakness behind each lapse. Trust: we generally trust other people, and that is a good thing in life, but doing things for people just because we believe them is how many attacks get in. Emotion: we react, with fear, excitement, curiosity or panic, and some of those reactions harm the organization. Lack of knowledge: the person was not trained, or does not have the skill or experience to do the right thing. Laziness: the person knows the process and does not want to follow it, so they take a shortcut. Honest mistake: even skilled, careful people slip. Accidental disclosure, giving information to the wrong person without meaning to, is the lesson's example. How to use it: look for why the person did what they did. Believed someone is trust; reacted is emotion; did not know is lack of knowledge; knew and skipped it is laziness; knew and slipped is an honest mistake.
