About this arcade

This is the same conversion you already know from calm practice, now timed and scored. The math doesn't change — what changes is whether you can do it fast, without second-guessing yourself, the way you'll actually need to on exam day.

Each round throws a fresh decimal value at you and starts the clock. Build the binary equivalent place value by place value, the same way you practiced — just faster. Your streak and your time per question both feed your score, so getting it right matters, but getting it right quickly matters too.

Key terms

Decimal
The base-10 number system using digits 0–9; the standard system used in everyday counting and arithmetic, and the most common format for presenting numeric output to humans.
Binary
The base-2 number system that uses only the digits 0 and 1; the native language of digital computers, which store and process data as electrical on/off states.
Bit
Short for binary digit, the smallest unit of data in computing, holding a single value of 0 or 1; all digital information is ultimately composed of bits.
Place Value
The weight assigned to a digit based on its position within a number; in binary, each position represents a successive power of 2 (1, 2, 4, 8, …), making position the key to decoding binary values.
